Watch Webinar: Green Purchasing for Schools Saves Money and Reduces Your Environmental Footprint

Green Schools Initiative hosted a webinar with the Responsible Purchasing Network as part of the Green Strides Webinar Series, promoted by the U.S. Department of Education. Watch the webinar video below (webinar was recorded on September 11, 2013).

Did you know that K-12 schools in the U.S. use about 6 million trees for the paper they buy? Or that K-12 schools are responsible for about 8% of U.S. carbon emissions? Learn how to specify and find affordable products that will reduce waste and pollution, save energy and water, and safeguard health. We will give you green purchasing best practices and tips in categories like paper and office supplies, custodial and cleaning, equipment, lighting, food and cafeteria supplies. We will introduce you to the Green Schools Buying Guide, the Healthy Purchasing for Healthy Schools Guide, and other resources. Leverage your school's buying power towards protecting people and the planet.

Deborah Moore, Executive Director, Green Schools Initiative, and Alicia Culver, Executive Director, Responsible Purchasing Network, guide you through the steps of finding greener and healthier products for your school.
