Founded nationally in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, the local awards in 90 communities across the country recognize "unsung heroes."
You're making the difference.
Deborah believes that ALL children deserve a healthy, safe, and sustainable learning environment. "It's an honor to be recognized by my Bay Area community for making a difference, but really it's the students, parents, and teachers that are making a difference every day by improving the environment at schools," says Deborah.
"My efforts are aimed at making it easier for schools to take action by giving them the training, information and support they need to go green. It's inspiring to me to see kids come up with such creative ideas for reducing waste, saving energy, and inventing new ways of doing things."
